D-Day – The Beaches
575,00€
Private tour D-Day – The Beaches – Full day
Marked by engraved headstones, battle-scarred landscapes, and the memories of the fast-disappearing ‘Greatest Generation’, we will pay tribute to those young men that gave their lives for our freedom. We need to ensure that their story is passed on from present to future generations!
ITINERARY
It is not possible to cover the five landing sectors in one day (Omaha, Utah, Pointe du Hoc for the American sectors, Gold and Sword for the British sectors, and Juno for the Canadian sector).
During this tour, we will cover different topics (the ground, naval, airborne forces, the artificial ports, the decoy plan called Fortitude, the French life under the German occupation, the French resistance, and the Atlantic wall…).
The classical D-Day tour comprises:
- Omaha Beach with a stop in a strongpoint,
- The American cemetery,
- Pointe du Hoc, the only place where huge craters are still visible,
- The hedgerows,
- Sainte-Mère l’Eglise with its paratrooper made famous in the movie «The Longest Day» and its church with military stained-glass windows.
- For the lunch, we recommend a restaurant that was a former bunker for the US Navy communications center, with hundreds of veteran autographs decorating the walls.
- Meeting Point: Bayeux train station
- Duration: 8 hours
- Many museums are closed during the low season (January and February). But it is still possible to visit many outdoor WW2 sites.
- Rate (from 1 to 7 people): 575,00 €
INCLUDED
- Guiding Services
- Private Transportation
- Bottle of water per person
EXTRA
- Train tickets from Paris to Bayeux or Caen
- Personal Expenses
- Souvenirs
- Food, Drinks, Snacks
- Admission tickets for museums.
No restrictions for people with reduced mobility
