Guided Tour – Individual Admission

Notre-Dame is the most iconic monument in Paris, and probably in France. Struck by a violent fire on April 15, 2019, and rebuilt in five years (a record time!) following the construction of the century, the cathedral now showcases its history and exceptional heritage. After the first pillar was laid in 1163, during the reign of Louis VII and under the aegis of Bishop Maurice de Sully, its construction continued for nearly two centuries. Renovated in the 19th century by Viollet-le-Duc, it is an unparalleled architectural feat, with a length of 127 m, a width of 48 m, towers 69 m high, and a spire that reaches 96 m. Guided tours of the interior of Notre-Dame are permitted starting June 9, 2025, with two options:

The guided tour offered by the Compagnie des Guides allows visitors to discover and deepen their understanding of this monument. A tour of the interior, completely restored after the fire, surprises visitors with the restored brightness of its walls, the brilliance of its paintings, the freshness of its sculptures, and the well-integrated modernity of its furnishings.

The tour begins at the mythical Virgin of the Students and follows the rhythm of the ambulatory, passing through the twenty-nine chapels, including the Virgin of Guadalupe and the Chapel of the Holy Childhood, whose Chinese characters recall the martyrdom of Saint Paul Chen. It leads to the altar with the statues of Louis XIII’s vow renewed by Louis XIV. The transept is punctuated by three rose windows, where 13th-century stained-glass windows still remain. The choir enclosure, although partially amputated, displays a series of beautifully carved scenes from the Gospels of Nicomedes in polychrome wood from the 13th and 14th centuries.

A tour of Notre-Dame’s exterior allows you to decipher the historiated portals, the Gallery of Kings, the statues of the Virgin and Adam and Eve, and the chimeras on the tower level. The journey through time and space is accompanied by the story of the fire and the restoration that followed. An exceptional experience that will leave a everlasting impression!
